SRC Infonet sought to find a specialist in advanced business technologies to help fulfil this, and so selected SRC as the leading System Integrator. SRC are experts in their field with vast experience in helping businesses significantly improve the efficiency of their operating activities, along with installing the most advanced technologies they thrive on optimising the most demanding business processes from all industries. SRC has held a successful and long-standing partnership with Molex for over 12 years. Stas Kalan and Denis Ganoni, Project Managers at SRC, said that “leading with the Molex MIIM™ solution was never questionable for the SRC Infonet project. MIIM has so may advanced and unique qualities, perfect to support SRC Infonet’s Data Centre and beyond. Partnering with Molex over the years has given us the edge to lead with winning systems every time”. SRC implemented MIIM system within their own building, part of a ‘demonstration showroom’ for the rest of the Slovenian business world to view.
The Project
SRC presented SRC Infonet with the opportunity to implement MIIM as an Advanced Physical Layer Management solution supplying them with innovative technical features to support their demanding network usage, and as a prerequisite for the longer term expansion plan. SRC and SRC Infonet agreed that a MIIM installation would assist in both the promotion of the product via working demonstrations for future projects and clients, and also to show SRC Infonet as a leader in business technology uptake and in aligning its business towards more streamlined, secure and efficient processes.
Installation Details
According to SRC Infonet, MIIM was implemented to assume immediate and full control, including automation, confidence and visibility throughout layer 1. Gorazd Vidic of SRC Infonet commented that “MIIM was chosen for its uniqueness. Implementing MIIM will automate the maintenance and usage of SRC Infonet’s complete Physical Layer 1, and in a Data Centre, this is absolutely crucial. The quality of the solution must be impenetrable; there can be no room for compromise”. Christophe Hinet, part of the Advanced Solutions team was there to support with the MIIM training and installation. He commented that the “installation was smooth and seamless. The IT team at SRC Infonet had a demonstrable working knowledge of the network and their leadership in implementing advanced technologies was very apparent”.
The Installation was completed in two stages. Initially, the hardware system was implemented in SRC Infonet’s Data Centre, which included MIIM scanners and patch panels. Thereafter, the MIIM software component was initialised, along with the SQL database to successfully complete the advanced Physical layer manager system.
Conclusion
Since the MIIM implementation, IT managers from SRC Infonet indicated a significant improvement in the security of the Data Centre connectivity, thus resulting in a positive uplift on the services they offer to their clients. Subsequently, the SRC Infonet IT team are able to monitor connectivity levels in their Data Centre continuously and independently on location where they have access to complete visibility of the physical layer and subsequent attached devices.
