MIIM 1.7 - the next generation is released

The Premise Networks division of Molex releases the latest 1.7 version of its Advanced Physical layer Management tool, MIIM™. MIIM is a comprehensive solution focusing on enhancing network management at the physical layer, including network security, asset management, and MAC and Work Order management.

MIIM 1.7 significantly enhances both the channel management and the user experience. It provides complete management of the channel from network attached devices at endpoints through patches to switch connections. MIIM’s capabilities extend across distributed data networks allowing centralised monitoring and control. Work orders are now available to manage devices, patches, and connections to switches allowing documentation and verification of connectivity throughout the entire channel. MIIM’s unique capability to detect connectivity changes, in real time, across the data channel enables unprecedented visibility into the physical layer infrastructure. Information on device connection/disconnection benefits IT managers in many ways, including immediate fault isolation and more effective management of Disaster Recovery situations. MIIM 1.7 includes support for both inter-connect and cross-connect architectures, contributing further to the significant cost benefits that a MIIM Advanced Physical Layer Management solution brings to any business.

MIIM’s enhanced clientless user interface is compatible with leading browsers and is based on MS-SilverLight technology, which enables pan/zoom and drag-and-drop functionality across building maps and rack views to easily manage work orders and devices. MIIM 1.7 allows for tighter integration of the latest Microsoft operating systems in both 32bit and native 64bit support to improve operational security with the use of Windows authentication and optional integrated IIS encryption.

MIIM 1.7 brings additional features and benefits such as improved graphics, multi-window views of the entire channel including attached devices, expanded search capabilities, and a powerful reporting system for alarms, logs, work orders and assets.
